Miramar

The town of Miramar, which serves as the capital of the Montes de Oro canton, can be found tucked away in the Costa Rican province of North Puntarenas. This well-known town is located about 110 kilometers away from the capital San José and is home to a population of only approximately 6,540 people; nonetheless, there is a wide variety of tourist attractions for people to enjoy when they make the journey to this relatively little town.

Ecotourism is a popular activity for tourists that go to Miramar in Costa Rica. During this type of vacation, visitors explore many of the area’s forests, rivers, and other protected environments in order to view local species populations in their natural habitats. The Ostional Wildlife Refuge may be found not too far away, which is home to a colony of turtles that are protected. Turtles like leatherbacks and olive ridleys may be observed going about their normal lives without being disrupted by human development, which attracts tourists.

At an elevation of just 300 meters above sea level, Miramar can be found at the base of the mountains. Zapotal, which is located nearby, is about 1,500 meters above sea level. Hiking the distance between the two villages, which takes around six hours total, already affords you numerous breathtaking views to take in along the way. Other hiking paths are available in the highlands, and these trails provide hikers with the opportunity to view a significant portion of Costa Rica’s native flora and fauna in their natural settings. Hiking trails may be available in Montes de Oro, also known as the hills of gold, where tourists can explore the deep, dense woods that are interspersed with rivers.
