Heredia
Heredia, which was established in 1705 and is known as the “City of Flowers” due to the abundance of magnificent gardens and exquisite flora in the area, is considered to be one of the most historically significant cities in Costa Rica. Heredia, located in the middle of Costa Rica and surrounded by huge coffee farms and verdant vegetation, is the perfect destination for a vacation with your family.
The National University of Heredia is a major draw for the city’s younger residents. As a result, Heredia offers a delightful alternative to San Jose, whether you are interested in shopping or simply wish to take a peaceful stroll around the city’s streets.
The city has a wonderful selection of activities, such as tours of the colonial city as well as excursions into the surrounding flora and animals. Other cities in the province are also worth visiting, so don’t limit yourself to just one! Consider the cities of Santo Domingo, San Isidro, San Rafael, and San Jose de la Montana as just a few examples. The breathtaking Zurqui Mountains and the Barva Volcano are all that surround the city of Heredia.
Do not pass up the opportunity to hike to the peak of Monte de la Cruz; once there, you will be rewarded with unrivaled views of the Central Valley, the Poas Volcano, and the Barva Volcano.
